A Story of Two Friends

A short story + sad picks that go with the story

/The Story

When I was in elementary school, there was a boy who lived down the block. He and I became fast friends after I met him. He was a funny kid who was two years younger than me. His games were always the best. His mom, on the other hand, was a different story. She didn’t like it when we hung out. Once, we had gotten into trouble because we had broken a birdhouse that belonged to his mother(On accident). She held a grudge against me and my sister after that incident

The boy had often come over to our yard and she didn’t know. We quite enjoyed silly games and often would burst out laughing. After a while, he would stop coming over. I would only get to see him in hallways at school. We haven’t spoken a word since I was in eighth grade.

/One day in the 9th grade I was in the library and I noticed him. He hadn’t grown much and had the same pudgy smile that I loved so dearly. His mom had gotten him a tablet sometime in between. He had a large group of friends that was most likely the popular group.
