A piano from the Titanic's sister ship, + 3 music picks

Intro

Welcome to the last issue of summer. I’m going on vacation for the next month.

A Piano From the Titanic’s Sister Ship Awaits Its Next Audience

Highlights

A Steinway & Sons walnut upright piano that was commissioned in 1912 for the ocean liner Olympic, the sister ship of the Titanic

During the Titanic’s maiden voyage, musicians played pianos from Steinway & Sons to entertain passengers.

Before its provenance trail was traced in the last few years, nobody showed any interest in it.

The nonprofit aims to raise 125,000 dollars to get it and make it accessible.

The only other Olympic piano known to survive is a Steinway grand Bill Wyman sold for about 38,000 dollars. No one knows its precise location.

My first pick is Cheerleader by Phem with Waterparks. It’s pop-punk.

My next pick is 10 things I hate about you by Leah Kate

“10 your selfish

nine your jaded

eight the dumbest guy I’ve dated…

five your toxic

four can’t trust you

three you still got mommy issues”

Dirt: The Nightlife Review: Saigon

Highlights

Ho Ch Minh City, known as Saigon, is Aisa’s city-that-never-sleeps.

The author was summoned to a watering hole in Thảo Điền.

Her first stop is Summer Experiment, an Aussie-run cocktail spot with one of the most ambitious menus she’s seen

Then she heads to the CỘI, a live jazz venue

people in Vietnam drink coffee and tea all day and all nigh. Most cafes are open 24/7.

At 1AM people check out the rooftop club Observatory.

Music Choice #3

My third pick is Just Because by Sadie Jean.
